A 52-year-old business expert has claimed that a developer in Lokhandwala, Andheri, has illegally demolished his flat and stolen his personal goods, valued at Rs 16.14 lakh, with the help of a few members of his housing society.
A formal complaint has been filed by the Oshiwara police against DGS Land Developer India Private Limited, the developer, and his employees. Shukla, the builder, has denied the accusation and claimed that the complainant filed a fictitious complaint.
Parbvez Usman Shaikh, who has lived in the Gurudarshan Shri Swami Samarth Prasanna Society in Lokhandwala since 2003, has said that DGS Land Developers India Pvt Ltd and the society forcibly removed him from his unit and demolished it without giving him enough warning.
Shaikh, who resided in Flat C-303, was one of several tenants who refused to leave the building after the developer took possession of it in May 2024 because they disagreed with the terms of the reconstruction. Shaikh claims that because he sought clarification and feared fraudulent activities during the rebuilding process, he did not sign any agreements.
Shaikh claimed on June 19 that the developer had piled dirt and rubbish at the door and had turned off the flat’s gas, power and water supplies. Shaikh, forced to flee, briefly relocated to Santacruz, bringing with him only a few personal belongings. Shaikh added that the developer demolished the building four days after the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) on June 25 issued an Intimation of Approval (IOA) letter.
