Projects to improve Connectivity between Mira-Bhayandar and Thane, valued at Rs 16,500 crore

To improve connectivity between Thane and Mira-Bhayandar, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is starting two large-scale infrastructure projects for which it is seeking to raise Rs 16,577 crore. Two of the proposed enhancements are a creek bridge that connects Bhayandar to Ghodbunder Road and a 5.5-kilometer tunnel that runs from Gaimukh to the Fountain Hotel intersection at Shilphata.

An MMRDA representative declared that the department has started to indicate interest in obtaining loans from banks to fund these projects. When the Borivali-Thane twin tunnel and the double-decker Metro 10, which would cross an elevated road connecting Gaimukh and the Fountain Hotel, are approved, these projects will be the third and fourth attempts to improve access to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park.
