Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently published a video on his X account that had noteworthy scenes from his Mumbai Metro experience. The footage shows him conversing with a variety of passengers, including youth and labourers. A striking scene in the video is when a girl sings and plays the guitar behind Modi on a moving metro train.
In an important gesture to improve urban transportation, PM Modi inaugurated the BKC to Aarey JVLR segment of Mumbai Metro Line 3. This project, which costs around Rs 14,120 crore, contains ten stations, nine of which are underground. The opening took place on Saturday and represents a significant improvement in Mumbai’s transport infrastructure.
During the Thane event, PM Modi also set the groundwork for many schemes totalling more than Rs 32,800 crore. This includes the Thane Integral Ring Metro Rail Project and the elevated Eastern Freeway extension. He also established the Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA) project.
The Thane Integral Ring Metro Rail Project is expected to cost approximately Rs 12,200 crore. It will cover 29 kilometres and have 20 elevated and two underground stations. This ambitious project attempts to fulfil the growing transportation needs of Thane, Maharashtra’s major industrial and commercial centre.
Moreover, PM Modi lay the foundation stone for the new Thane Municipal Corporation building. This building, estimated to cost roughly Rs 700 crore, will improve Thane’s civic infrastructure. These projects constitute a significant investment in Maharashtra’s infrastructure development. They attempt to address urban mobility issues while also promoting economic growth through increased connection.
