Mumbai, renowned for its bustling lifestyle and traffic congestion, is poised for a transformative development. On November 13, 2024, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis revealed an ambitious plan to extend the Mumbai Coastal Road to Virar in Palghar district. This project is set to ease traffic congestion and redefine Mumbai and its neighboring regions.
According to Fadnavis, the Government of Japan will provide financial backing of Rs 54,000 crore for this extensive undertaking. The first phase of the extension will involve constructing a 29.2 km road along Mumbai’s western coast, linking Marine Lines to Kandivali. Subsequent phases will include connecting Versova to Madh and Madh to Uttan.
