Chief Financial Officer Robbie Singh of Adani Enterprises Ltd. (AEL) stated that the Navi Mumbai International Airport is scheduled to open in the April–June quarter of 2025. The Navi Mumbai International Airport is 1,160 acres in size. The anticipated overall cost of the airport redevelopment is Rs 16,700 crore. Two runways, separated by 1.55 km, will constitute part of its equipment.
The original opening date of December 2024 was changed to the March quarter of 2025, however, this timetable represents a change. As part of a larger plan to handle Mumbai’s increasing air traffic, the Navi Mumbai International Airport is being built. It will initially be able to handle 20 million people per year.
It will create a dual-airport system with the Mumbai International Airport, sharing resources and operating in tandem. At the moment, Mumbai Airport can only use one of its two runways at a time. With one terminal in the initial phase, the Navi Mumbai Airport will eventually have four passenger terminals and two operational runways.
A turboprop cargo plane from the Indian Air Force made a historic landing on the airport’s southern runway in October. According to the Times of India, this is a component of continuous readiness checks before the airport’s phased operational launch.
There will be a single runway, a single terminal building, and a 20 million passenger capacity in the first and second phases. A second runway, four more terminals, and a 90 million passenger capacity will be added in the following phases 3, 4, and 5.
