The Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP) has adopted state-of-the-art technologies to survey and document Asia’s largest slum, a first for any slum rehabilitation project in India, officials said.
The 620 acres of densely crowded Dharavi slums are being mapped using drones and remote sensing technology called Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR). With a redevelopment project of this size and complexity, this is essential to guarantee accuracy, transparency, and efficiency.
The Adani Group and the state government own an 80% share in the Dharavi Redevelopment Project Pvt Ltd, which aims to transform 620 acres of prime land—roughly three-quarters the size of Central Park in New York—into a glamorous metropolitan centre.
