APMC Navi Mumbai Set For Rapid Overhaul: Minister Rawal’s Assurance

During a review meeting at the Mumbai Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) headquarters in Vashi, State Minister for Marketing and Protocol Jayakumar Rawal said that the APMC, Asia’s largest market committee, would prioritise resolving its outstanding concerns.

As a key hub for agricultural commerce, Minister Rawal underlined the value of teamwork in producing excellent work through this committee. “APMC’s reconstruction will be planned with a 50-year vision, carried out quickly, and finished in phases. He promised that tangible decisions on some outstanding matters would be made within 45 days.

Prominent individuals attended the meeting, including Secretary Dr. Pandurang Khandagale, Vice Chairman Dhananjay Wadkar, Chairman Ashok Duck, former Minister and APMC Director Shashikant Shinde, and other board members.

Rawal emphasised intentions to discuss the committee’s renovation in depth with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and suggest ways to improve its functioning. In order to encourage agricultural trade and development, he also suggested setting up department-specific agricultural fairs for markets under APMC’s purview.

The Minister described his plan to combine the marketing and protocol departments to make choices that are focused on farmers and emphasised the importance of researching international market committees in order to implement best practices. “We aim to set a benchmark by providing improved facilities for farmers and traders, aligning with APMC’s stature as Asia’s largest market committee,” he stated.

Chief Finance Officer Mandar Salvi and Secretary Dr. Pandurang Khandagale gave a thorough rundown of APMC’s operations and suggested improvement initiatives during the meeting. Several directors expressed their views on improving existing operations, redevelopment plans, and facilities required for stakeholders.

Later, Minister Rawal spoke with the media and gave a tour of the APMC’s facilities, which included the Agriculture and Marketing Board’s export facility developments. Ashok Duck, the chairman of the APMC, gave a vote of gratitude to end the occasion.
