With two major projects—the Cable-Stayed Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Reay Road and improvements to Khar Station on the Western Railway—Mumbai is expected to see considerable infrastructural advancements. It is anticipated that these initiatives will improve traffic flow, ease congestion, and enhance the city’s commuting experience in general.
With a centre pylon system and stay cables fastened to the central spine, the bridge will be the first of its sort in the suburbs of Mumbai. The bridge, which was designed by MahaRail, minimises interference with subterranean utilities by requiring fewer piers and a smaller base. According to a Midday report, the new structure will simplify traffic with its six vehicle lanes and pedestrian walkways.
The relocation of the booking office, an upgraded entrance, a new home platform on the west side, and a raised deck over island platforms 1 and 2 are some of the major upgrades at Khar Station. Three lifts and four escalators will also be added to improve the station’s usability and accessibility.
