The application process for developers to be appointed to work on development and redevelopment projects within its purview has been made public by the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) in Mumbai. Throughout Mumbai, this project seeks to guarantee the methodical implementation of redevelopment plans and expedite rehabilitation.
Acquiring the empanelment application forms between March 7th and March 21st, 2025 will be possible. On the second floor of the administrative building at Anant Kanekar Marg, Bandra (East), Mumbai, 400 051, the Office of the Deputy Chief Engineer, WS & City, is currently where the forms may be found.
The SRA has established specified rules that developers seeking empanelment must follow. The application procedure consists of several parts, such as an acknowledgement form, a request form, Annexure I that lists the available personnel and equipment, and project information sheets that list both finished and continuing projects. These records are intended to evaluate the candidates’ capacity to manage extensive reconstruction projects.
The application form must be filled out according to the guidelines, with all required information entered in the appropriate parts. Project descriptions, certifications, and photos are examples of supporting documentation that must be included with the application. Applications that are not complete may be rejected, as will any extra annexures or separate pages.
A number of crucial activities will fall under the purview of empowered developers during the reconstruction process. The society’s building plot must be demarcated, borders must be finalised, SRA must be informed of existing tenements and built-up areas, and Development Plan (DP) reservations must be followed.
In addition, developers are required to aid the evacuation of current tenants to transit accommodations, draft and secure approval for comprehensive redevelopment plans, and supervise the rebuilding process under the guidance of a qualified RCC consultant.
After the project is finished, developers must give the rehabilitated inhabitants permanent housing, get an Occupation Certificate (OC) from the appropriate government, and turn over SRA’s portion of the built-up land.
Every year, the SRA empanelment scheme’s developer categorisation will be updated to guarantee that only capable and trustworthy developers are still on the panel. Without giving a rationale, the SRA Board is still able to accept or reject any application.
Simplifying Mumbai’s slum redevelopment process is made possible by the SRA’s initiative to empanel developers. By establishing precise eligibility requirements and a methodical application procedure, the authority hopes to guarantee that only qualified and experienced developers work on these important projects.
