The BMC has started to demolish an unapproved building in a 22-story high-rise on Dongri’s Zakaria Masjid Street. Six floors designated for parking and refuge zones allegedly saw unapproved construction by the constructor, according to BMC officials.
According to officials, the six levels were built with more than 40 residential apartments in addition to stores and godowns. The civic authority gave the builder notice prior to beginning the demolition. Ward officials stated that they had cleaned the ground level thus far and that the demolition process will continue for a few days.
“We need to account for the fact that some of the residents requested time to remove their possessions alone,” said a BMC official. “We also need sufficient police protection to continue the action,” he added. According to B-Ward officials, the Bombay High Court ordered the BMC to act legally in April after a writ suit was filed to stop unapproved development in the Noble Tower parking lot and shelter.
