June 9, 2025: In a crackdown on unauthorised construction based on forged maps, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has demolished a total of 44 structures, including four in Manori village under the P (North) ward.
Over the past few years, the civic administration has observed a rising trend of illegal construction in the Madh area, with many structures built using falsified layouts and documents. The BMC has since intensified its eviction operations.
Between 3 and 5 June, BMC officials demolished a resort named ‘Geneva’ along with three other unauthorised structures in Manori. These included one structure measuring 6,900 sq. ft., another of 2,300 sq. ft., and two smaller constructions of approximately 150 sq. ft. each. The demolition was carried out using two JCBs and other equipment, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner (Zone 4) Dr Bhagyashree Kapse and Assistant Commissioner (P North) Kundan Valvi.
A police team was deployed to ensure the operation proceeded without disruption, alongside municipal officers and staff.
The BMC stated that, to uphold transparency and discipline in urban development, strict action must be taken against such violations.
