Mumbai Railway Services To Pause From June 7–10 for Major Metro Line 9 Infrastructure Upgrade

June 9, 2025: Mumbai’s suburban train services between Mira Road and Bhayander will face brief but significant interruptions from 7 to 10 June, due to critical infrastructure work linked to the ongoing construction of Metro Line 9. This effort aims to enhance east-west connectivity across the city’s western suburbs.

Train services will be suspended for three consecutive nights to allow for the safe installation of heavy girders and the protection of overhead electrical equipment. On  June 7, services will halt between 1:30 AM and 3:15 AM, followed by similar suspensions from 1:45 AM to 3:00 AM on June 8 and June 9. These timings have been carefully chosen to minimise the impact on regular daytime commuters.

As a result, several trains on the Western Railway line will either be cancelled or conclude earlier than usual. For instance, on June 7, the last Churchgate–Virar local will depart at 11:58 PM, while the final service to Bhayander will leave at 11:38 PM. Southbound trains from Virar will conclude at 12:05 AM, with similar changes on the subsequent nights.

Additionally, a jumbo block is scheduled on June 8 from 10:35 AM to 3:35 PM between Churchgate and Mumbai Central, to carry out vital track and signal maintenance. During this period, some trains will run on fast lines, and others may be short-terminated or cancelled.

While these temporary changes may inconvenience late-night travellers, they are essential to facilitate the safe execution of Metro Line 9. Once complete, the line will offer faster, greener, and more efficient transport options, easing pressure on Mumbai’s existing networks and improving multimodal connectivity.

Commuters are advised to check real-time updates and plan journeys in advance to avoid disruption.
