June 18, 2025: The Boisar station of the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor has marked a key construction milestone with the successful casting of its first foundational slab. Officials from the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) confirmed that this significant progress lays the groundwork for future track-laying operations.
The inaugural slab, measuring approximately 40 metres in width and 37 metres in length, required more than 1,070 cubic metres of concrete. In total, nine such slabs will be cast at this level to support the bullet train tracks.
The upcoming Boisar Bullet Train station is designed as a two-level structure—featuring a concourse level and a rail level—and will extend to a length of 425 metres. Its construction will involve the use of roughly 8,000 metric tonnes of steel and 42,000 cubic metres of concrete. The concourse area alone will cover 6,000 square metres, while the station’s entire footprint will span approximately 17,000 square metres.
Architecturally, the station’s façade pays tribute to the region’s heritage by drawing inspiration from the traditional Konkani fishing nets used by local communities.
Once operational, the station will significantly improve connectivity to regional centres and industrial hubs, including Vadhvan Port (23 km away), Boisar and Tarapur MIDC zones, and the Tarapur Atomic Power Station. It will also offer better access to popular tourist spots such as Dahanu, Bordi beaches, and Hiradpada waterfalls.
Prioritising passenger comfort, the station will include lounges, waiting rooms, smoking zones, first aid, clean drinking water, and toilets in both paid and unpaid areas. Lifts and escalators will ensure easy navigation between floors, and the concourse will host a range of shops catering to all travellers.
