PDG Raises160 Million Dollar Green Loan For Navi Mumbai Data Centre Expansion

July 31, 2025: Princeton Digital Group (PDG), a leading data centre operator, has secured approximately USD 160 million (around Rs 1,330 crore) in green financing to support the expansion of its flagship MU1 data centre campus in Navi Mumbai. The funding was raised from a consortium of prominent Indian lenders, including Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Canara Bank, and represents a significant milestone in PDG’s ongoing commitment to developing sustainable digital infrastructure across the region.

This latest financial boost brings PDG’s total green loan commitments in Asia to USD 728 million, reinforcing its focus on environmental responsibility while building AI-ready infrastructure at scale.

Situated within a 50-acre IT/ITES park in Airoli, MU1 is Mumbai’s first data centre to be awarded the prestigious IGBC Platinum certification for its environmentally sustainable design and operations. The campus currently comprises two operational buildings with a combined capacity of 50 MW. Construction is now underway on the first phase of its planned 100 MW expansion.

“Green financing plays a pivotal role in our mission to build AI-ready digital infrastructure with sustainability at its heart,” said Rangu Salgame, Chairman, CEO and Co-founder of PDG. “With MU1, we are not only setting new benchmarks for green data centres but also supporting Mumbai’s emergence as a vital node in the global AI and cloud network,” he added.

PDG has also outlined plans to scale MU1 to 150 MW, alongside a 72 MW development in Chennai. These efforts are part of a broader USD 1 billion investment aimed at bolstering India’s digital infrastructure to meet growing demand from hyperscalers, cloud providers, and enterprise clients.

Powered by renewable energy, MU1 incorporates hybrid cooling, hyperscale-grade systems, and high-speed fibre connectivity—positioning it as a critical facility for mission-focused digital operations.
