Thane–Navi Mumbai To Get New 1,300-Acre Business Hub, Modelled On BKC

November 11, 2025: In a move set to transform the region’s economic landscape, the Maharashtra government has announced the development of a world-class business district spanning 1,300 acres across Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Kalyan. The new hub—described by officials as “one step ahead of BKC”—will feature global-standard infrastructure, seamless connectivity, and a strategic location linking multiple municipal zones.

Positioned at the gateway of Navi Mumbai, Kalyan-Dombivli, and Panvel, the project is expected to catalyse large-scale commercial and employment growth across all four metropolitan clusters. The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has been designated as the nodal agency, with technical support from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

According to officials, the proposed business city will encompass villages such as Datiwali, Mhatardi, Betawade, Agasan, Ayre, Kopar, Bhopar, Nandivali, Panchanand, and Katai—areas under TMC and the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation. Land acquisition notices have already been issued, marking the beginning of groundwork activities.

The government aims to establish a futuristic business hub featuring advanced road networks, smart urban systems, and multimodal transport integration. Thirteen traffic strategies have been drafted to ensure smooth mobility and minimal congestion.

Connectivity will be a defining strength of the project, with direct links to the upcoming Kalyan–Taloja Metro Line, Airoli–Katai Road, Nilje Growth Centre, and CIDCO’s proposed corporate park in Kharghar. This will create a continuous economic corridor extending from Thane to Navi Mumbai.

Planners expect the new district to become a major employment and investment destination. Large office complexes, business parks, and allied services will attract both domestic and global enterprises, positioning Thane as a global business hub. With modern infrastructure, abundant land, and coordinated regional planning, the district is poised to emerge as Maharashtra’s next corporate powerhouse.
