The upcoming bullet train station in Anand, part of the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor, is being designed to reflect the city’s identity as the “Milk City of India,” officials said. The façade and interiors of the station are inspired by the fluid form and texture of milk droplets, symbolising Anand’s deep association with India’s dairy industry.
The station is being developed by the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) and is expected to serve as a modern transport hub with integrated connectivity and passenger-friendly infrastructure.
As per official details, the station will stand 25.6 metres tall with a total built-up area of 44,073 square metres. It will be a three-level structure featuring two side platforms and four central tracks. The design includes a wide range of modern amenities such as ticketing counters, waiting lounges, restrooms, information kiosks, retail spaces, and a nursery facility.
“The design also includes skylight provisions on the roof and exterior sides to allow natural lighting inside the station premises. Passenger pick-up and drop-off zones, along with parking facilities for cars, two-wheelers, autorickshaws and buses, are being planned adjacent to the station building. A pedestrian plaza will also be developed,” the statement said.
Connectivity to the station is also being strengthened, with Uttarsanda railway station located around 600 metres away and Nadiad Junction about 10 km away serving as the nearest major rail link. The closest airports include Vadodara Airport (54 km) and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (70 km).
Officials noted that the station is being developed as a multimodal transport hub to ensure smooth passenger movement across different travel systems. Structural works are in advanced stages, with slab casting completed across all levels, roof steel structures finished, and façade steel work completed.
Installation of lifts and escalators has already been completed, while finishing works such as cladding and staircases are currently underway. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also shared visuals of the station on social media, highlighting progress on the project.
