Beam Slip At BKC Metro Site Sparks Safety Concerns, No Fatalities Reported

A construction-related incident at a Mumbai Metro site in Bandra Kurla Complex caused alarm on Wednesday morning after a heavy beam slipped during lifting operations. The mishap occurred while the structure was being hoisted into position as part of ongoing infrastructure work.

According to initial reports, the beam either slipped or collapsed mid-air while being handled by a crane, leading to immediate concern among workers present at the site. The incident took place during routine girder installation activities.

Emergency response teams and officials from the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) reached the location shortly after the incident to secure the area and assess the situation. Preliminary information indicates that no fatalities have been reported. However, a few workers are believed to have sustained minor injuries, though authorities have not yet confirmed the exact number.

Early findings suggest that the accident may have been triggered by a technical issue during the lifting process. Officials are currently examining whether the beam slipped due to a mechanical malfunction in the crane or if there was any lapse in safety protocols during execution.

The affected area has been cordoned off as a precautionary measure while inspections are underway. Work at the site is expected to remain under review until safety checks are completed and clearance is granted.

Authorities have indicated that a formal inquiry will be initiated to determine the exact cause of the incident and identify any accountability. Further updates are awaited as investigations continue and officials gather more details about the circumstances leading to the mishap.
