Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority Vice-President and CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal conducted a review of multiple housing projects being developed by the Konkan Housing and Area Development Board in Kalyan taluka of Thane district.
During the visit, Jaiswal inspected project sites at Khoni, Shirdhon, Gotheghar and Bhandarli and assessed the status of ongoing construction and infrastructure work. Officials were instructed to ensure timely completion of the projects while maintaining construction quality and transparency throughout execution.
The review included inspection of internal roads, water supply systems, electricity infrastructure, sewage treatment arrangements, landscaped spaces and other civic amenities proposed within the housing complexes.
The Khoni housing project includes 7,174 residential units along with 152 commercial shops targeted at Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Low-Income Group (LIG) beneficiaries. MHADA officials stated that 2,032 units were allotted through a lottery process in 2018, followed by 2,016 units in 2021 and another 1,012 units in 2025.
According to the authority, nearly 70 per cent of successful applicants have already taken possession of their homes, while the handover process for the remaining units is currently underway.
At the Shirdhon project, a total of 18,692 residential units and 342 shops are being developed for EWS and LIG categories. MHADA had earlier offered 1,905 EWS homes through lottery in 2018, while an additional 5,227 units were included in the 2025 housing lottery scheme.
Jaiswal directed officials to accelerate the development of civic infrastructure and public amenities within the Shirdhon project to support future residents. He also instructed authorities to conduct an e-auction for commercial shops at the project site next month.
Officials were further advised to incorporate conditions in the auction process that would prioritise project beneficiaries while allotting commercial spaces within the township developments.
