The Maharashtra government has stepped up efforts to facilitate the transfer of the Richardson & Cruddas land parcel in Mumbai for the proposed expansion of Sir JJ Hospital, with Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde directing officials to expedite the process.
The instruction was issued during a recent review meeting focused on the proposed handover of land adjoining the historic government-run healthcare institution. As part of the initiative, the Mumbai suburban collector has been asked to speed up the administrative procedures required for transferring the site to support future healthcare infrastructure development.
The proposed land transfer is considered a significant component of plans to expand Sir JJ Hospital, one of Maharashtra’s largest public medical institutions. Situated in South Mumbai, the hospital caters to patients from across the state and has witnessed growing demand for medical services over the years.
Government officials indicated that the Richardson & Cruddas property could provide the additional space needed for expanding treatment facilities, support services and future infrastructure requirements.
