Actor Mohit Hiranandani’s Viral Video On Luxury Apartment Woes Sparks Debate Over Monsoon Infrastructure

A Mumbai-based actor has gone viral on social media after sharing a video highlighting the challenges he faced in his high-rise residential building during the city’s monsoon rains. The clip has reignited discussions around the reliability of infrastructure in premium residential complexes despite their high rental costs.

Actor Mohit Hiranandani posted a video showing himself climbing several flights of stairs after all five elevators in his residential tower reportedly stopped functioning due to heavy rainfall. According to him, the malfunction forced him to climb nearly 30 floors to reach his apartment after a long day.

The video also questioned the quality of services in so-called luxury residences, especially considering the high rents paid by tenants. The on-screen text in the clip read, “Paying nearly Rs 1 lakh a month to live in a “luxury” building only for all 5 lifts to give up the moment it rains so now you’re climbing 30 floors like it’s a trek.”

Hiranandani further revealed that his ordeal did not end after reaching home. In the caption accompanying the video, he claimed there was no water supply in the building when he finally entered his apartment. “And then when you get home. No water. Waah Mumbai life!” he wrote.

The video quickly gained widespread attention on social media, with many users sharing similar experiences of living in high-rise residential buildings during Mumbai’s monsoon season. Several commenters said the incident reflected recurring maintenance and infrastructure issues faced by residents despite paying premium rents.

One user commented, “This is exactly why luxury buildings in Mumbai are only luxury in brochures.”

Another wrote, “Paying so much rent and still dealing with lifts and water issues is peak Mumbai life.”

A third user remarked, “Thirty floors by stairs after a long day sounds like a punishment, not a homecoming.”

The viral video has fuelled a broader conversation about the gap between the premium lifestyle promised by luxury residential projects and the practical challenges residents continue to encounter during heavy rains in Mumbai.
