Adani Airport City To Invest Rs 10,000 Crore In Mumbai & Navi Mumbai Under Airport City Expansion Plan

Adani Airport City Limited (AACL) is set to invest nearly Rs 10,000 crore in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai as part of its large-scale airport city development strategy, with the Mumbai Metropolitan Region expected to receive the largest share of the company’s nationwide investment programme.

The proposed investment forms part of AACL’s first-phase outlay of Rs 20,000 crore, aimed at developing integrated airport cities across six airports in India. As part of the plan, around 440 acres of land in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai have been identified for mixed-use development comprising commercial office spaces, hotels, retail centres, convention facilities, entertainment zones and business parks.

Overall, the company intends to develop nearly 22 million square feet of built-up area across six cities—Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur and Guwahati. The airport city model is designed to create self-sustaining urban ecosystems that combine aviation infrastructure with commercial, hospitality and business developments, while generating employment opportunities and attracting long-term investment.

According to the company, nearly 70 per cent of the first-phase investment will be directed towards projects in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, underscoring the strategic significance of the region. The upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport is expected to play a key role in driving this expansion and supporting the growth of surrounding commercial districts.

The planned developments aim to transform areas around the airports into vibrant economic hubs by integrating office spaces, hospitality projects, retail destinations and entertainment facilities within a single ecosystem. Besides improving passenger convenience, the initiative is also expected to stimulate real estate activity, strengthen supporting infrastructure and contribute to the long-term economic growth of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

With substantial investments planned around key aviation assets, the airport city programme is expected to reshape urban development in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai while reinforcing the region’s position as one of India’s leading business and infrastructure destinations.
