The Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) has recommended the redevelopment proposal for a sea-facing residential property owned by Salman Khan’s family in Bandra (West), bringing the project a step closer to construction. However, there is no official confirmation that the actor or his family will move out of their long-time residence at Galaxy Apartments.
According to a report, the Bandra property has been part of the Khan family’s real estate portfolio for more than a decade and is not a recent acquisition, despite renewed public interest surrounding the project.
The redevelopment proposal was considered during the MCZMA’s 198th meeting held on June 16. Official meeting records indicate that the existing structure on the site had already been demolished after obtaining the required approvals. The family now plans to build a six-storey sea-facing residence on the plot.
The authority recommended the proposal from the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) perspective, allowing it to move forward to the relevant planning authority for additional approvals, subject to compliance with all statutory requirements.
MCZMA observed that the property falls within the CRZ-II category, where redevelopment is permitted under existing regulations. During the review process, the authority sought clarification regarding land ownership, following which the project proponents submitted the necessary documentation before the proposal received its recommendation.
The development comes more than two years after the firing incident outside Galaxy Apartments in April 2024, after which security around Salman Khan’s residence was significantly strengthened.
While speculation continues that the actor and his family could eventually relocate to the redeveloped property, sources cited by India Today reiterated that the Bandra plot has long belonged to the family and is only now entering the redevelopment phase. The construction timeline has not yet been disclosed, and there has been no official announcement regarding any move from Galaxy Apartments.
