The Maharashtra government has assured the Legislative Assembly that it will positively examine all proposals and demands raised by members concerning urban development initiatives, infrastructure projects, recruitment matters, and pending approvals under planning regulations. Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal informed the House that the state remains committed to addressing key developmental requirements, particularly in Pune and other urban regions.
While responding to discussions on supplementary demands, Minister Madhuri Misal stated that the government is actively pushing implementation across several flagship urban schemes, including the Nagarotthan Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). She added that financial provisions have been included for projects sanctioned under the Pilgrimage Development Master Plan, aimed at strengthening infrastructure in major religious destinations.
The supplementary demands also include allocations for the state’s contribution under the AMRUT Mission, along with a proposed provision of nearly ₹3,000 crore for preparations related to the upcoming Kumbh Mela. These investments are intended to support large-scale civic infrastructure and crowd management requirements associated with the event.
Minister Madhuri Misal further highlighted that adequate budgetary support has been provided for sewage treatment plant (STP) projects in municipal councils, as well as for clearing pending grants under the Swachh Maharashtra Mission for urban local bodies and Panchayati Raj institutions. The state has also prioritised sanitation and waste management infrastructure through these allocations.
Additional provisions cover financial assistance to municipal corporations, strengthening of administrative infrastructure, construction of working women’s hostels, and implementation of Urban Transport Phase-III projects. The government has also earmarked funds for upgrading basic civic amenities and executing special development schemes across various municipal corporations.
Misal noted that significant financial allocations have been extended to infrastructure projects undertaken by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), aimed at improving connectivity and urban services across the region.
Responding to concerns raised by legislators, Minister Madhuri Misal assured the Assembly that the government would give due consideration to pending development proposals and urban planning issues. She reiterated that the state is focused on ensuring balanced and inclusive urban growth through timely approvals, improved infrastructure delivery, and sustained investment in housing, transport, sanitation, and municipal services across Maharashtra.
