In a significant development for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor, construction of the Vadodara Bullet Train Station has crossed another milestone with the completion of slab casting at the concourse, track and platform levels. The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), which is implementing the 508-km high-speed rail project, announced that structural steel erection is now in progress at the station.
According to NHSRCL, the completed slab work marks an important stage in the station’s construction, paving the way for the next phase of structural development. “Slab casting work at the concourse, track and platform level has been completed. Structural steel erection work is currently in progress,” the corporation said in its latest project update.
The station is being developed above Platform No. 7 of the existing Indian Railways station near Pandya Bridge. Its location has been strategically chosen to ensure smooth connectivity between the high-speed rail network and conventional railway services, enabling convenient passenger transfers.
Inspired by the banyan tree, locally known as “Vad”, the station’s architectural design reflects Vadodara’s cultural and natural identity. The structure has been planned to maximise natural lighting while providing open views of the sky, creating a spacious environment for travellers.
NHSRCL said the station will include a range of passenger amenities such as waiting lounges, baby care rooms, restrooms and retail spaces to improve the travel experience.
To support seamless multimodal connectivity, the station will also feature dedicated parking areas and separate pick-up and drop-off zones for cars, buses and auto-rickshaws.
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project is among India’s largest transport infrastructure initiatives, with construction progressing at multiple locations across Gujarat and Maharashtra.
