Maharashtra Forest Minister Ganesh Naik on Friday conducted an inspection of several key infrastructure and development projects across the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) area, reviewing the progress of ongoing works and assessing their implementation on the ground.
The inspection tour commenced at the Airoli Natyagruha, where Naik reviewed various civic and infrastructure initiatives before moving to other important project sites across the city.
One of the key locations visited was the memorial featuring a full-length statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Airoli. The minister inspected the site and reviewed the development work associated with the memorial.
Naik subsequently visited the Airoli–Katai Bridge, a significant connectivity project aimed at improving movement between Navi Mumbai and neighbouring areas. During the inspection, he took stock of the construction status and reviewed the progress of the infrastructure work.
The minister also inspected the Turbhe–Kharghar Link Road project, including its road and tunnel components. The project is expected to strengthen connectivity between important parts of Navi Mumbai and improve traffic movement across the region. Naik reviewed the ongoing construction and assessed the progress of work at the site.
Senior officials from the Maharashtra government and the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation accompanied the minister throughout the inspection tour. The officials briefed him on the status of the various projects and the work being undertaken at different locations.
The visit was primarily aimed at obtaining a first-hand assessment of infrastructure projects, identifying issues affecting their implementation and reviewing the progress achieved so far.
The inspection of the Airoli–Katai Bridge and Turbhe–Kharghar Link Road assumes significance as Navi Mumbai continues to witness rapid infrastructure expansion and increasing traffic volumes. Improved road connectivity is expected to support movement between residential, commercial and industrial areas while strengthening links with neighbouring parts of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
The minister’s tour covered multiple ongoing initiatives, with officials assessing construction progress and the implementation of planned civic and infrastructure works. The inspection also provided an opportunity to review the condition and development of important public facilities and transportation infrastructure within the NMMC jurisdiction.
The visit underlines the state government’s focus on monitoring major infrastructure projects directly and ensuring that development works across Navi Mumbai progress according to planned timelines and requirements.
