Maharashtra Clears Rs17,725-Crore Metro Line 13 Linking Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar

The Maharashtra government has approved Metro Line 13, a 25.03-km corridor linking Mira-Bhayandar and Vasai-Virar, at Rs 17,724.99 crore. The project, to be implemented by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), will have 16 stations, including three underground and 13 elevated.

The corridor will feature a 4.92-km integrated six-lane road-and-metro bridge over Vasai Creek and connect Mira Road, Vasai, Nalasopara, Naigaon and Virar. It will also link with suburban railway stations and Metro Line 9. The project is expected to carry 4.49 lakh passengers daily by 2031 and reduce road travel time by around 50%.

In a separate decision, the state approved a revised cost of Rs 10,502.36 crore for the 31.805-km eastern expansion of the Pune Ring Road. The MSRDC-led project will connect the Pune-Solapur and Pune-Satara roads and is targeted for completion by June 2029.
