Mumbai Metro's Aqua Line-3

Mumbai Metro’s Aqua Line-3 is set to offer uninterrupted 4G and 5G mobile connectivity across its underground stations, tunnels and passenger areas following a 25-year agreement between Reliance Jio and ACES India Private Limited, news agency ANI reported.

Under the long-term partnership, Jio will deliver mobile telecom services through digital infrastructure established by ACES India, a wholly owned subsidiary of neutral digital infrastructure provider ACES. The initiative is expected to provide commuters with dependable voice calls, high-speed data and digital connectivity throughout their journey.

The 33.5-km Aqua Line-3 stretches from Aarey JVLR to Cuffe Parade, with 27 stations connecting several important residential, commercial and transportation centres across Mumbai. The metro corridor has been developed with the capacity to eventually serve more than 625 million passengers every year.

The connectivity network will cover underground tunnels, stations, platforms and concourses, enabling passengers to access mobile and digital services even in areas where maintaining conventional cellular coverage can be challenging.

Dr Akram Aburas, Group CEO, ACES, was quoted by ANI as saying: “The signing of this 25-year agreement with Reliance Jio reinforces our vision of building future-ready digital infrastructure in high-density urban environments. Enabling seamless 4G and 5G connectivity across Mumbai Metro Aqua Line-3 will help redefine the connected commuter experience.”

Mohammed N Mazher, Managing Director of ACES India, said the partnership reflected the company’s expertise in developing and deploying telecom infrastructure suited to complex and densely populated urban environments.

The agreement marks another step towards strengthening digital connectivity along one of Mumbai’s major public transport corridors. Once implemented, the infrastructure will provide mobile coverage across the underground stretch between Aarey JVLR and Cuffe Parade, helping commuters stay connected during their metro journeys.
