Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has inaugurated the Navi Mumbai Police’s new Prahari Integrated CCTV Command Centre at the Police Commissionerate headquarters in CBD Belapur, marking a major step towards technology-driven policing and enhanced public safety.
The state-of-the-art facility has been developed jointly by the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) and Panvel Municipal Corporation. It is designed to provide round-the-clock surveillance across Navi Mumbai and strengthen the police response to crime, traffic-related incidents and emergencies.
Operating under the motto “Always Watching, Always Protecting”, the Prahari system will enable authorities to monitor activities across the city through an integrated surveillance network. Officials said the centre will provide real-time information to police personnel, helping them assess situations quickly and coordinate responses more efficiently.
The command centre is expected to play a key role in traffic management and maintaining law and order. By bringing surveillance and monitoring functions onto a centralised platform, the system will allow police officials to keep track of traffic conditions, identify potential security threats and respond promptly to incidents.
The facility is also expected to improve coordination between the police and civic agencies when dealing with situations that could affect public safety. The integrated system will provide authorities with greater situational awareness and strengthen emergency response capabilities.
Forest Minister Ganesh Naik and Employment Minister and Raigad Guardian Minister Bharat Gogawale attended the inauguration. Legislative Council members Ravindra Phatak and Vikrant Patil, MLAs Mandatai Mhatre and Mahesh Baldi, and other civic representatives were also present.
Senior officials attending the event included Divisional Commissioner Rubal Agarwal, Thane District Collector Dr Shrikrishna Panchal, NMMC Commissioner Kailas Shinde, Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe, Joint Commissioner of Police Deepak Sakore and Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pramod Shewale.
The launch of Prahari is expected to strengthen Navi Mumbai’s security infrastructure by combining surveillance, traffic monitoring and emergency response through a single technology-enabled platform.
