Kalyan Lok Sabha MP Dr Shrikant Shinde inspected several ongoing infrastructure and civic projects in Dombivli on Sunday and directed contractors to maintain strict quality standards. He warned that inferior construction and the use of substandard materials would not be accepted.
During his inspection, Shinde reviewed the progress of the Savitribai Phule Natyagruha, Sant Sawalaram Maharaj Sports Complex, the under-construction cancer hospital and Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari Auditorium, among other projects. He instructed civic officials to closely track construction quality and ensure that projects are completed within their scheduled timelines.
Cancer hospital targeted for December 2027
Shinde inspected the upcoming cancer and multi-speciality hospital and directed officials to speed up construction. The facility is targeted to become operational by December 2027.
He also reviewed plans for the redevelopment of the 500-bed Shastrinagar Hospital and Rukminibai Hospital. According to officials, efforts are also underway to establish a medical college serving the Kalyan-Dombivli region.
At the Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari Auditorium in Dombivli West, Shinde assessed the ongoing work and stressed the need to accelerate construction while maintaining prescribed standards.
Quality must match private projects
At the Savitribai Phule Natyagruha, Shinde inspected the stage, seating facilities and other amenities. The project is expected to be completed by October or early November. He also directed officials to prepare a detailed proposal for an art gallery at the venue within 10 days.
During the visit, he expressed dissatisfaction over the quality of certain works and instructed contractors to improve execution and material standards.
“Make the work grand, but do not compromise on quality. It should not look like government work; it should look like private work. From marble to every other material, the quality must be high. Substandard work will not be tolerated,” he said.
At the Sant Sawalaram Maharaj Sports Complex, Shinde reviewed construction progress and said the facility was expected to become one of the country’s major sports complexes. The project is targeted for completion in 2027.
Shinde further instructed civic authorities to conduct regular quality checks, monitor progress closely and ensure contractors comply with all technical specifications and construction standards.
