Maharashtra Drives India’s Growth Story, Says Pranav Adani

Director of Adani Enterprises Pranav Adani addresses the “6th Real Estate & Infrastructure Investors Summit 2026” organised by National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) at the Jio World Convention Centre, in Mumbai on Thursday.

India is emerging as one of the world’s strongest growth stories, with Maharashtra and Mumbai playing a leading role in the country’s economic transformation, Adani Enterprises Director Pranav Adani said on Thursday.

Speaking at the NAREDCO Maharashtra Real Estate & Infrastructure Investors’ Summit 2026 in Mumbai, Adani highlighted Maharashtra’s contribution to the national economy and its progress in infrastructure, connectivity and large-scale development.

“In just over a decade, this state (Maharashtra) and this city (Mumbai) have shown the rest of India how to move quickly from fragmented project execution to scale, speed and integrated long-term capacity creation,” Adani said.

He noted that Maharashtra contributes around 14% of India’s GDP, the highest share among Indian states. “To put things in perspective, roughly one out of every seven rupees that is generated by the Indian economy is generated right here.” He added that Maharashtra is not only benefiting from the country’s growth but is also helping finance, build and shape India’s broader economic ambitions.

Adani said investors today are looking beyond conventional assets such as land and construction, placing greater emphasis on governance, infrastructure and execution.

“I believe that we are also simultaneously investing in governance, connectivity, execution, and human possibility (and) today, Maharashtra offers all four,” he said.

He also highlighted the Adani Group’s involvement in the redevelopment of Dharavi, stressing that the focus should extend beyond rebuilding structures.

The group, he said, wants to safeguard livelihoods, preserve community networks and provide eligible residents with secure housing, modern infrastructure and improved public spaces.

“Our responsibility, the Adani Group’s responsibility, is not simply to replace structures.” “We are also taking responsibility for the living infrastructure in the city,” he stated.

Addressing Mumbai’s future, Adani said the city is entering a new phase of infrastructure-led growth, supported by Metro expansion, the Coastal Road, Atal Setu, Navi Mumbai International Airport and new regional connectivity corridors.

“Right now, the test before us is not whether our cities will grow. They certainly will. The test before us is whether our cities will grow with trust, resilience, inclusiveness, and imagination,” he said.

Adani described Mumbai 3.0 as a major opportunity to reshape the metropolitan region and expand economic activity across emerging corridors.

“Mumbai 3.0 captures that opportunity,” he said, adding, “We at the Adani Group are privileged and proud to be a partner in this journey. Of course, we cannot overlook the fact that this regional transformation rests on a powerful national foundation”.

According to Adani, the convergence of infrastructure, real estate and regional connectivity is positioning Maharashtra and Mumbai as important drivers of India’s next phase of economic growth.
