Panvel Opens New Mayor’s Residence ‘Shivneri’ In Kharghar

The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has inaugurated its newly built mayor’s residence, ‘Shivneri’, in Sector 21, Kharghar, adding a new civic facility to the rapidly developing Panvel region.

The residence was inaugurated on September 10 by senior BJP leader and MLA Ravindra Chavan in the presence of elected representatives, civic officials and other dignitaries. Built on a combined plot measuring 2,572.81 sq m, the property has a total construction area of 1,405.28 sq m.

The project comprises plot number 151, spread across 1,807.22 sq m, and plot number 151A, covering 765.59 sq m.

Residence Equipped With Modern Facilities

The new building includes six bedrooms, a large living room, two sit-outs, a fully equipped kitchen and a dedicated office for the mayor. Additional facilities include a gymnasium, basement parking, lift and a CCTV control room.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Raigad Zilla Parishad president Mangesh Wakadikar, MLAs Prashant Thakur, Yogesh Sagar, Mahesh Baldi and Niranjan Davkhare, Mayor Nitin Patil, CIDCO joint managing director Ganesh Deshmukh, municipal commissioner Mangesh Chitale and Deputy Mayor Pramila Patil, among others.

Leaders Highlight Panvel’s Future

MLA Prashant Thakur said the municipal corporation had undertaken several development initiatives during the past decade and described the dedicated mayor’s residence as a matter of pride for the civic body. He also acknowledged the contribution of former municipal commissioner Ganesh Deshmukh to the project.

Mayor Nitin Patil said the completion of ‘Shivneri’ reflected the wider growth of Panvel. He said the city could emerge as the largest municipal corporation in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region after Mumbai, given the scale of infrastructure development underway.

“Panvel will witness rapid development in the coming years due to the International Airport, an international-standard railway station and the junction of the Samruddhi Expressway,” Patil said.

He expressed confidence that Panvel would be recognised among the fastest-growing municipal areas over the coming decade.

New Civic Landmark in Kharghar

The residence is designed to support the mayor’s official duties while also providing residential facilities. Its inauguration comes as Kharghar and the wider Panvel region continue to see significant infrastructure and urban development.

Senior civic officials, including additional municipal commissioner Ganesh Shete, deputy commissioners Dr Vaibhav Vidhate, Swaroop Kharge and Abhishek Paradkar, and other department heads attended the event.

Officials, employees, citizens and elected representatives also participated in the ceremony. Architects and the contractor associated with the project were felicitated, while architect and corporator Ruchita Londhe was honoured for her contribution.

The opening of ‘Shivneri’ adds another prominent civic asset to Kharghar as Panvel continues to expand its administrative and urban infrastructure alongside major regional connectivity projects.
