Four passengers travelling towards Mumbai on the Duronto Express were injured after a stone thrown from outside struck and shattered a coach window, sending fragments of glass into the compartment.
The incident occurred while a group of passengers travelling from Nagpur to Mumbai were having dinner inside the train. According to a video shared on Instagram by user Aesthete Traveller, the passengers were seated near the window when the stone hit the moving train, causing the glass to break suddenly.
Footage from the incident shows broken glass scattered inside the coach following the impact. The video also includes an account from one of the passengers, who described how the group had been eating when the stone struck the window without warning. Images and footage recorded after the incident showed police personnel reaching the station and assessing the situation.
The incident has once again drawn attention to the risks posed by stone-pelting on moving trains. The passenger who shared the video raised concerns about commuter safety, particularly because families and children were seated in the surrounding areas of the coach.
He also said he was relieved that the stone had struck the window rather than causing a more serious incident, suggesting that the consequences could have been significantly worse.
The video subsequently generated discussion on social media over responsibility and railway security. Some users questioned whether stronger preventive measures and enforcement could help reduce incidents of stone-pelting on trains.
