Mumbai’s nearly 1.3-km Dindoshi–Film City flyover, being developed under the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR) project, is expected to open to motorists by October 15, 2026. The six-lane elevated road connecting Dindoshi Court with Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari, popularly known as Film City, has completed its major structural works.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has finished construction of all 31 piers and 30 spans, along with girder installation, deck slab casting and approach roads at both ends. Remaining activities include finishing work, road markings, signage, electrical installations and noise barriers.
A crucial load test is scheduled for the second week of October to assess the flyover’s structural safety and load-bearing capacity. The proposed opening will take place only after the test and other mandatory technical procedures are completed.
The flyover begins near Dindoshi Court, turns around the Ratnagiri Junction Hotel area and descends towards Film City. Officials have also directed teams to complete the 7.5-metre-wide slip roads, remove barricades beneath the structure and clear construction debris and solid waste before traffic is allowed.
Traffic police coordination is also being planned to ensure smooth vehicle movement once the flyover becomes operational.
The structure forms one part of the wider 12.2-km GMLR corridor, which is being developed to establish a direct east-west connection between the Western Express Highway and Eastern Express Highway. The larger project includes twin tunnels beneath Sanjay Gandhi National Park and between Tulsi and Vihar lakes, besides a box tunnel in Film City, bridges and interchanges.
Once the entire corridor is operational, the project is expected to cut travel time between Mumbai’s eastern and western suburbs from nearly 75 minutes to about 25 minutes.
The Dindoshi–Film City flyover is being commissioned separately ahead of the complete GMLR network. With structural construction largely finished, attention has now shifted to testing, finishing works and traffic-readiness measures. The October 15 opening target remains dependent on completing these requirements.
