Kasara Rail Block To Disrupt Mumbai Local and Long-Distance Services From October 10 To 13

Central Railway will carry out a series of traffic and power blocks at Kasara between October 7 and 18 as part of ongoing infrastructure works, with significant changes to suburban and long-distance train services from October 10 to 13.

The work is linked to the Asangaon-Kasara third-line project and the extension of the UP Yard towards Igatpuri. The 12-day programme includes pre-non-interlocking, non-interlocking and post-non-interlocking activities at Kasara Yard. The larger third- and fourth-line project between Kasara and Kalyan is intended to separate suburban services from long-distance Mail and Express operations, improving train movement and creating additional capacity.

Suburban services between Asangaon and Kasara will be affected during specified periods. Blocks are scheduled from 3.35 pm to 9.35 pm on October 10, 11.30 am to 6.30 pm on October 11, and 3.35 pm to 8.35 pm on October 12 and 13.

Several CSMT-Kasara locals will terminate at Asangaon on October 10, 12 and 13. In the opposite direction, services normally originating from Kasara will instead start from Asangaon at revised timings. Similar changes will apply on October 11, with some services also departing late.

Central Railway has also revised the first and last local timings during the block period. The final CSMT-Kasara service before the block will leave at 12.30 pm, while the last Kasara-CSMT local will depart at 2.42 pm. Services resuming after the block will operate at different timings depending on the date.

Long-distance trains will also face operational changes. Several UP-bound trains will be regulated around Igatpuri and may reach their destinations 35 to 40 minutes late. Services affected include the Gorakhpur-LTT, Haridwar-LTT AC, Howrah-CSMT, Amritsar-CSMT and Kamakhya-LTT Karmabhoomi Express trains, among others.

Down services will also experience delays of around 20 to 25 minutes on October 10, 12 and 13, including the LTT-Rajgir, CSMT-Nagpur Sevagram, Panvel-Gorakhpur and CSMT-Manmad Panchavati Express trains.

Passengers travelling through the Kasara section during the block period have been advised to check revised train timings before starting their journey.
