Nana Patekar’s 27-Acre Farmhouse That Offered a Quiet Life Away From Bollywood

Located near Khadakwasla, the farmhouse was closely linked to Nana Patekar's simple way of life

Nana Patekar, who died at 75 on Thursday, October 8, was widely recognised for his memorable performances in Hindi cinema. Away from the spotlight, however, the actor preferred a much quieter lifestyle, with his expansive farmhouse near Pune providing an escape from the pace of Mumbai and the film industry.

Situated near Khadakwasla, the 27-acre property reflected Patekar’s longstanding connection with farming and rural living. According to a report by Economic Times, the farmhouse featured seven rooms, a spacious hall, wooden furniture, terracotta flooring, beamed ceilings and extensive greenery. Its understated design stood in contrast to the lavish interiors often associated with celebrity residences.

For Patekar, the farmhouse was more than a private retreat. Agriculture was an important part of his life, and he had spoken in several interviews about cultivating crops on the property. His farming activities included growing rice, wheat, bajra, onions and garlic, allowing him to remain closely involved with the land rather than simply owning it as a leisure property.

The Pune farmhouse also offered the actor an opportunity to step away from the attention that accompanied his successful film career. Surrounded by greenery and open spaces, the property provided a setting where he could focus on farming, spend time with animals and enjoy a simpler routine.

With its natural surroundings, traditional materials and relatively modest interiors, the farmhouse represented a different side of Patekar’s life. While his professional career kept him firmly in the public eye, his Pune retreat allowed him to reconnect with the rural lifestyle and activities he valued away from the world of cinema.
