Mumbai’s east–west road connectivity received a boost after Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis virtually inaugurated the 1.26-km-long, six-lane Dindoshi–Film City flyover in Goregaon East on October 22, 2026. The structure marks an important development under Phase 1 of the Goregaon–Mulund Link Road (GMLR) project.
Situated near Hotel Ratnagiri Junction, the flyover links General Arun Kumar Vaidya Marg with Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari Road near Santosh Nagar. It is expected to improve traffic movement between Mumbai’s western and eastern suburbs while making cross-city travel more convenient.
During the inauguration, Fadnavis said ongoing infrastructure upgrades would strengthen both north–south and east–west connectivity. He also highlighted the state government’s broader target of bringing travel times across Mumbai down to 50–60 minutes. Improved traffic flow, he noted, would contribute to smoother journeys and better living conditions for residents.
The flyover forms part of the larger GMLR initiative, which aims to create a more direct road connection between Goregaon and Mulund. The wider project includes proposed tunnels and connecting roads designed to improve access between residential areas and commercial centres across the city.
The improved road network could also influence homebuying decisions by making neighbourhoods across both suburban corridors more accessible. Arshad Lashkaria, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Lashkaria Group, said transport infrastructure is an important consideration for buyers, particularly in Mumbai, where commuting distances and workplace access often shape residential choices.
Established western suburbs such as Andheri, Jogeshwari and Goregaon already benefit from commercial centres and social infrastructure. Better links with eastern locations, including Mulund, Bhandup and Vikhroli, could expand residential options for people working across the city.
The eastern suburban belt also has established business districts, industrial areas and emerging office destinations. Improved connectivity could help companies access a wider workforce while offering residents more employment choices.
For the property market, the GMLR project could influence the appeal of residential micro-markets across both corridors. However, affordability, housing availability and neighbourhood infrastructure will continue to shape buyers’ decisions as the wider project advances.
