The tunnel will go from Shilphata to the underground station at Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC).
Tunnel construction is moving forward quickly, according to National High Speed Rail Corporation executives. Sixteen kilometers of the overall length are being excavated with Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs), while the remaining five kilometers are being done so with the New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM).
The completion of 100% secant piling at Shaft-1 at BKC and Shaft-2 in Vikhroli—Shaft-1 reaching a depth of 36 meters and Shaft-2 reaching a depth of 56 meters, where around 92% of the excavation is finished—are significant developments. Furthermore, Shaft-3 excavation at Sawli, close to Ghansoli, is finished, paving the way for the first TBM to be lowered by year’s end.
