Slum Rehabilitation Authority Plans To Acquire Larger Office Space Near BKC

October 04, 2025: The Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA), which is responsible for approving and monitoring slum redevelopment projects across Maharashtra, is in the process of acquiring a new office space measuring 10,000 to 20,000 sq ft in the vicinity of Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai’s prime commercial hub.

Currently, the SRA operates from its headquarters in Bandra East, adjacent to BKC. However, with operations expanding, officials confirmed that the authority now requires a larger premises to cater to growing administrative needs.

According to the tender floated by the SRA, the proposed premises should be located within 1,000 metres of the existing office in Bandra East and must have a carpet area of around 1,000 to 2,000 square metres (10,000–20,000 sq ft) on a single floor.

The tender further specifies the need for 15 to 25 reserved parking spaces for four-wheelers, taking into account the large volume of visitors the authority handles daily. To manage the heavy public footfall, the SRA has expressed a preference for office spaces situated on refuge floors or those with adjoining open areas. Additionally, the building floor should be available for the exclusive use of the authority and must be backed by valid permissions for commercial use.

In terms of compliance, the SRA has outlined strict requirements. The property must have a clear and marketable title, free of any encumbrances, along with all necessary ownership documents. The tender document also highlights that the selected building should possess a structural stability certificate, with utilities such as water and electricity fully functional and compliant with existing building regulations.

The move reflects the SRA’s focus on enhancing operational efficiency as it continues to oversee redevelopment projects in Mumbai’s urban landscape.
