BEST To Overhaul Mumbai’s Bus Network From November 2025 For Better Connectivity And Commuter Comfort

November 06, 2025: The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) Undertaking will introduce a major revamp of its city bus network from 1 November 2025, with a new route and revisions to 23 key services across Mumbai. The restructuring aims to improve connectivity, passenger convenience, and operational efficiency across major corridors.

As part of the overhaul, Route A-101 will be launched between World Trade Centre (Cuffe Parade) and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT – Bhatiya Baug). The route will pass through significant locations such as G.D. Somani Marg, Colaba, Y.B. Chavan Pratishthan, Hutatma Rajguru Chowk, Madame Cama Road, and Walchand Hirachand Marg, operating from Monday to Saturday.

Alongside, 23 existing routes have been rationalised, with eight upgraded to fully air-conditioned services. Notable changes include:

Route A-1: CSMT–Santacruz Depot (earlier Electric House–Colaba).

Route A-6: Backbay Depot–Tata Power Centre.

Route A-30: Extended to Vikhroli Depot via Opera House.

Routes A-45 & A-49: Extended from MMRDA Colony to Mahul Village.

Route A-60: Renumbered as A-458 (Deonar Depot–Borivali East).

Other revisions cover both central and suburban areas. Routes A-69, A-77, and A-78 have been realigned in south and central Mumbai for smoother access, while in the Andheri and eastern suburbs, routes such as 235, 307, A-336, and A-362 have been extended or renumbered.

The move also reinstates Route A-604 (Kanjurmarg West–Bhandup West) and upgrades routes like A-207, A-211, A-215, A-399, A-410, A-604, A-605, and A-606 to air-conditioned services.

According to BEST officials, the initiative is part of a broader strategy to modernise Mumbai’s bus transport system, improve suburban and commercial connectivity, and ensure more reliable, comfortable commutes for passengers citywide.
