November 08, 2025: The Ulwe Coastal Road, a flagship infrastructure project by CIDCO, is nearing completion and is poised to redefine connectivity across Navi Mumbai. Designed as a strategic corridor linking key economic and transport hubs such as the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), and Amra Marg, the project spans approximately 7 kilometres. The six-lane (3+3) elevated stretch includes 5.80 km of coastal road and a 0.903 km Airport Link Road that directly connects to the upcoming NMIA.
Currently, around 60% of the work has been completed, with the project progressing steadily toward its scheduled deadline. Once operational, the Ulwe Coastal Road is expected to significantly decongest existing arterial routes like Palm Beach Road and NH-348, cutting travel time between South Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. This improved accessibility will provide a major boost to commuters, trade, and logistics, further accelerating the region’s economic expansion.
Incorporating modern construction and sustainability standards, the project features flyovers, bridges, and railway overbridges built using advanced techniques such as Prefabricated Vertical Drains (PVDs) and stone columns for enhanced stability. It will also include LED street lighting, modern signalling systems, and smart traffic management solutions to ensure safety and energy efficiency.
According to Vijay Singhal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of CIDCO, “The Ulwe Coastal Road is set to become a critical urban artery, reinforcing Navi Mumbai’s role as a global gateway and boosting national economic development.” Seamlessly connecting the NMIA and MTHL, the project exemplifies sustainable engineering and forward-looking urban planning, marking a significant leap in Maharashtra’s coastal infrastructure vision.
