PM Modi To Inaugurate & Launch Rs 29,500 Crore Projects During Mumbai Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Mumbai on Monday, February 16, 2026, where he is set to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for major infrastructure projects valued at approximately Rs 29,500 crore. The announcement was made by Mumbai Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Yogesh Sagar in a statement to news agency IANS.

According to Sagar, the Prime Minister’s visit will centre on key development initiatives aimed at upgrading Mumbai’s transport and trade infrastructure. The projects span three primary sectors — ports, railways and road infrastructure — and are being undertaken with support from the central government.

“Several major development projects for Mumbai will be undertaken,” Sagar stated. “Projects worth approximately Rs 29,500 crore, initiated through the central government, will have their foundation stones laid and be inaugurated during this visit.”

The visit comes amid preparations for another high-level engagement, as French President Emmanuel Macron is scheduled to arrive in Mumbai on February 17 as part of his three-day state visit to India from February 17 to 19.

During his stay, President Macron will be accommodated at Taj Colaba and is expected to visit Lok Bhavan, formerly known as Raj Bhavan. At Lok Bhavan, he and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are scheduled to issue a joint statement outlining shared priorities and enhanced cooperation between India and France.

With back-to-back visits by the Prime Minister and the French President, Mumbai is set to host significant political and diplomatic engagements over the two days, alongside the launch of large-scale infrastructure initiatives aimed at strengthening the city’s connectivity and economic capacity.
