President Droupadi Murmu Launches ‘Saving Lives & Building A Healthier Bharat’ Initiative In Mumbai

President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday inaugurated the ‘Saving Lives and Building a Healthier Bharat’ campaign at PD Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai, calling for accessible, high-quality healthcare to become a shared national priority. Addressing medical professionals and dignitaries at Lok Bhavan, she underscored that advanced treatment should not remain limited to a privileged few.

“Affordable world class healthcare for all should be everyone’s mission,” President Droupadi Murmu said, urging stakeholders across the healthcare ecosystem to work towards inclusive and equitable medical services. She emphasised that private hospitals, while striving for excellence, must also uphold their social responsibilities.

Highlighting India’s growing capabilities in the medical sector, the President said she believes the country is steadily emerging as a preferred destination for global healthcare. “I am confident that India will gain prestige as a global healthcare destination,” she said.

President Murmu arrived in Mumbai for a two-day visit as part of her multi-state tour covering Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Rajasthan. She was received at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport by Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Ajit Pawar, and Mayor Ritu Tawde.

Following her Mumbai engagements, the President is scheduled to visit Buldhana district to participate in the National Arogya Fair 2026 at Shegaon, organised by the Ministry of AYUSH, which promotes traditional medicine and holistic wellness practices.

On Thursday, she will travel to Jharkhand for the bhoomi pujan of the Sri Jagannath Temple in Jamshedpur and interact with students at Manipal TATA Medical College. The final leg of her tour includes Rajasthan, where she will attend Ex Vayushakti at Pokharan, a display of the Indian Air Force’s operational capabilities.
