Mumbai commuters are set for significant travel disruptions this weekend as Central Railway suspends key suburban services to carry out essential infrastructure work. Services between CSMT and Dadar will remain halted from 10.30 pm on Saturday, April 4, until 6 am on Sunday, as railway teams demolish the Prabhadevi Road Over Bridge between Parel and Currey Road stations.
Railway officials also confirmed that suburban trains on the Thane–Dombivli section will be intermittently cancelled from midnight to 10 am while platform extension work is completed at both stations. Several long-distance trains, including the Konark Express, Howrah Mail, and Hussain Sagar Express, will be short-terminated at Thane or Panvel instead of reaching CSMT.
Meanwhile, Western Railway will conduct a jumbo maintenance block on fast lines between Mumbai Central and Mahim from 12.15 am to 4.15 am, diverting all fast-line trains via slow lines between Santacruz and Churchgate. Additionally, a major block on the fifth line between Bandra Terminus and Bandra will continue throughout the weekend.
Officials have urged passengers to plan their journeys in advance and use alternate transport wherever possible, as both suburban and long-distance services will experience delays, cancellations, and diversions. The work is part of broader upgrades aimed at improving safety, operational efficiency, and commuter experience on Mumbai’s heavily used rail network.
Commuters are advised to check official railway updates for train timings and platform changes to minimise inconvenience during this weekend-long maintenance and upgrade operation.
