NMMC Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde Reviews Civic Infrastructure During Bicycle Inspection Across Belapur & Nerul

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde conducted an extensive bicycle inspection tour across parts of Belapur and Nerul between 6 am and 9 am to review civic infrastructure, cleanliness, and public amenities.

The inspection was carried out in response to the Prime Minister’s appeal issued in the context of the West Asia crisis and in line with guidelines issued by the Maharashtra government. Senior civic officials accompanied the commissioner during the tour, including City Engineer Shirish Ardawad, Additional City Engineer Arvind Shinde, and Deputy Commissioner of Solid Waste Management Dr Ajay Gadde.

The inspection route began from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk and covered several locations, including Shiravane, Sarsole, Kukshet, Karave, Jewel of Navi Mumbai, the Seawoods railway flyover, Parsik Hill, and Agroli.

During the tour, Dr Shinde reviewed public toilets, gardens, cycling tracks, markets, pump houses, and other civic infrastructure. He issued on-the-spot directives to officials for improving cleanliness and maintenance standards across various locations.

Addressing officials during the inspection, Dr Shinde said, “Cleanliness in village areas such as Shiravane, Sarsole, Kukshet, and Karave needs further improvement. Greater attention should also be given to maintaining cleanliness in the adjoining sector areas.”

The commissioner also instructed officials to renovate the Chincholi Garden at Shiravane-Juinagar and appreciated the maintenance of a public toilet facility in the area, recommending similar standards across the city.

At the Sarsole Arogya Vardhini Centre, he directed authorities to improve sanitation and accelerate pending market-related works to make the facility operational at the earliest. He also proposed developing a market near Karave village based on local demand.

Dr Shinde additionally inspected the pumping station and SCADA system at Agroli near Parsik Hill and recommended technical upgrades. Civic officials stated that the bicycle inspection initiative not only enabled direct monitoring of infrastructure and services but also promoted physical fitness and environmentally sustainable commuting practices across the city.
