Passengers travelling on two key long-distance trains this weekend are likely to face temporary disruptions, as Central Railway has announced short termination of the Netravati Express and Matsyagandha Express at Thane station due to infrastructure enhancement works at Mumbai’s Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT).
The railway administration will undertake a special traffic block from 8 am on June 14 until 8 am on June 16 to facilitate a series of upgrades aimed at improving operational efficiency and passenger amenities at the busy terminus.
The planned works include the construction of a new shunting neck, modifications to the existing sick siding, improvements to the maintenance siding yard, extension of pit lines in maintenance sidings 6, 7, 8 and 9, as well as the diversion of water supply, drainage and stormwater networks.
As a result, two trains departing on June 13 and June 14 will not complete their scheduled journey to LTT and will instead terminate at Thane:
- Train No. 16346 Thiruvananthapuram Central–LTT Netravati Express
- Train No. 12620 Mangaluru Central–LTT Matsyagandha Express
Central Railway said the temporary operational changes are necessary to support critical infrastructure improvements at the terminus.
“These blocks are essential for infrastructure upgradation and safety. Passengers are requested to bear with the Railways for the inconvenience caused and are requested to kindly take note of the repercussions and plan their travel accordingly,” the railway administration said.
Passengers travelling on the affected services have been advised to verify revised schedules and make alternate travel arrangements where required.
Meanwhile, Western Railway services are also witnessing temporary disruptions due to ongoing redevelopment works at Surat railway station. The project involves the launch of a through roof connecting Platforms 2, 3 and 4.
As part of the work, several trains are being short-terminated or short-originated at Udhna station. The Bandra Terminus–Surat Superfast Express (12935) will remain partially cancelled between Udhna and Surat until June 17. Similarly, the Surat–Amravati Superfast Express (20925) and Amravati–Surat Superfast Express (20926) will continue operating with partial cancellations between Surat and Udhna during the notified period.
