Approach Road Outside Prabhadevi Station Cleared, Improving Access For Commuters

The approach road leading to Prabhadevi railway station has been cleared of obstructions, bringing relief to thousands of commuters who use the station daily. The improvement comes after concerns were raised over unsafe pedestrian movement during the ongoing demolition of the old bridge near the station.

Until recently, commuters were forced to walk through a narrow and muddy stretch cluttered with construction materials and heavy machinery. The restricted pathway had made access to the station difficult, particularly during peak hours, with many passengers expressing concerns over safety and congestion.

Following the intervention, authorities removed construction debris and other obstacles from the approach road, creating a wider and more accessible pathway for pedestrians. Barricades have also been installed around the demolition site to separate commuters from ongoing construction work and improve safety.

The changes have significantly eased movement for passengers accessing the station.

Commuter Pradip Jagtap said, “The difference is clearly visible. Earlier, there was barely any space to walk because of the construction material and mud. Now the pathway is clean, open and the barricades ensure we are not walking right next to the demolition work.”

Another commuter, Mukesh Makhija, welcomed the development but said authorities should take preventive measures in similar situations.

“We are happy that the issue was addressed. The problem affected thousands of commuters, and it is good to see the authorities respond. However, the authorities should be more proactive in such situations,” he said.

The ongoing bridge demolition is part of infrastructure improvement works in the area, but it had created temporary challenges for pedestrians using the station. With the approach road now cleared and safety barricades in place, commuters can access the station with greater ease while construction activities continue nearby.

The development is expected to improve pedestrian safety and reduce congestion around one of Mumbai’s busy suburban railway stations until the infrastructure work is completed.
