Kalyan-Dombivli residents have blasted KDMC for allegedly delaying repairs despite repeated complaints about the monsoon’s deteriorating pothole-filled roads. Former corporator Vidyadhar Bhoir claimed that when he brought up traffic issues, officials did not take sufficient action. Rainfall-damaged roads will be restored using Mastic Asphalt and MPM following the monsoon, according to KDMC City Engineer Anita Pardesi.
The deteriorating state of Kalyan-Dombivli’s roads has led to further criticism of the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC), with locals claiming that despite repeated complaints, civic authorities have neglected to fix hazardous potholes.
The matter has drawn attention because there are allegedly many potholes on the roadways near the KDMC Commissioner’s official apartment. Similar degradation has occurred along the important route that connects Ramdaswadi to Kalyan railroad station, making travel especially challenging during the current monsoon.
Roads that are damaged put drivers at risk and raise concerns about prompt repairs.
Drivers are having to navigate pothole-filled roads due to multiple broken sections and what appears to be a lack of prompt patchwork repairs. Because unexpected potholes and uneven surfaces can cause sliding and accidents, two-wheeler users are still especially at risk.
A former corporator criticizes civic government
Vidyadhar Bhoir, a former Shiv Sena (Shinde) corporator, accused the KDMC administration of failing to appropriately address frequent complaints about the state of the roads.
Bhoir claimed that in addition to verbal and written concerns, he had personally met with local officials on several occasions to bring up the problem of potholes and subpar patchwork. But he said that nothing has changed.
Locals want repairs done
Locals have questioned whether the local government is delaying corrective action until after a significant accident. Deep potholes that impede highway flow and put commuters at greater risk have made the damaged section leading to Kalyan railroad station especially concerning.
The KDMC has been urged by the public to examine damaged roads right away and give priority to fixing potholes that immediately endanger public safety. Additionally, they have demanded long-lasting road repairs rather than shoddy patchwork that swiftly deteriorates during the monsoon.
