Inside Dalip Tahil’s Mumbai Home: Vintage Heirlooms, Family Memories & a Lush Private Retreat

Actor Dalip Tahil

Veteran actor Dalip Tahil has offered a glimpse into his Mumbai residence, revealing a space where vintage pieces, family memorabilia and contemporary design come together with an abundance of greenery.

Known for his memorable screen roles, Tahil’s home reflects a more personal side of the actor, with photographs, artworks and heirlooms occupying prominent spaces throughout the residence. The interiors balance understated contemporary furnishings with objects that carry a connection to his family and past.

A Living Room Filled With Memories

The living room features a neutral palette, soft lighting, plants and a blue-and-grey seating arrangement around a wooden centre table. A large bookshelf occupies one side, while artworks, a Buddha painting and family photographs add personality.

Among the photographs is one of Chusul airfield in Ladakh, which has a special family connection. Tahil’s father was the first Air Force pilot to land an aircraft at the airfield.

Another distinctive piece is a restored Parsi desk, decorated with family photographs. The room also features a photograph from Tahil’s meeting with Queen Elizabeth II in 2002.

Traditional Touches in the Dining Space

The dining area continues the blend of old and new. A wooden dining table sits against a backdrop featuring a vintage Parsi mirror and a Buddha statue.

A portrait of Tahil’s maternal grandmother is displayed above an almirah used to store glassware. Decorative pieces and a console add to the room’s traditional character, while the adjoining balcony allows natural light and greenery to flow into the space.

Contemporary White Kitchen

In contrast to the more eclectic common areas, the kitchen has a streamlined, modern appearance. Its all-white modular cabinetry, glossy surfaces and dark countertops create a clean visual look.

Modern appliances, including a double-door refrigerator, complete the functional yet understated design.

Balcony Becomes a Green Sanctuary

A glass-lined hallway connects the living areas with guest and storage spaces and opens towards the balcony.

The balcony is filled with plants, including tulsi, roses, bougainvillea and bamboo, creating a quiet green corner within the city. The abundance of foliage gives the residence a distinctly tropical character and provides Tahil with a peaceful space to spend his mornings.

Private Pool and Outdoor Greenery

The property also includes a landscaped outdoor area and a private swimming pool surrounded by plants. Tahil uses the pool for swimming, which forms part of his relaxation and fitness routine.

A gym within the building adds another space dedicated to exercise and wellness.

A Residence Shaped by Personal History

What distinguishes Tahil’s Mumbai home is the presence of objects with personal and historical significance. Restored furniture, traditional Parsi elements, family portraits, books and photographs coexist with contemporary furnishings and modern amenities.

Rather than following one rigid interior style, the home brings together pieces collected or preserved over time. The result is a residence that feels deeply lived-in, combining the actor’s family history with his appreciation for art, heritage and nature.

From the Parsi desk and vintage mirror to the photographs chronicling his family’s past and the greenery-filled balcony, Dalip Tahil’s Mumbai home offers a look at a private world built around memory, heritage and everyday comfort.
