Angel One Founder Dinesh Thakkar Buys Entire Juhu Tower For Rs 711 Crore In Record Luxury Home Deal

Dinesh Thakkar, Angel One founder buys Juhu Tower

Dinesh Thakkar, founder, chairman and managing director of Angel One, has agreed to acquire an entire luxury residential tower in Mumbai’s Juhu for more than Rs 711 crore, making the transaction one of India’s largest high-value residential property deals.

The property is located at Embassy Terrazza on Juhu Tara Road. Unlike a conventional luxury apartment purchase, Thakkar is buying an entire G+7 residential tower with a RERA carpet area of approximately 63,000 sq ft. At around Rs 1.13 lakh per sq ft, the transaction is also being described as a record residential deal for Juhu.

The tower forms part of Embassy Terrazza, a five-tower development spread across more than two acres and planned with around 50 residences. Embassy Developments has described Thakkar’s acquisition as India’s largest single residential unit transaction.

From Stockbroker to Digital Finance Entrepreneur

Thakkar has been associated with Angel One since its early years. Founded in 1996 as a traditional brokerage, the company later transitioned towards a digital-first financial services model, with its digital journey beginning in 2019.

Over the years, Thakkar has spoken about the importance of patience, discipline and long-term business building. He has also discussed setbacks, including an investment loss during the dot-com bubble, and how such experiences influenced his approach to entrepreneurship.

His decision to purchase the Juhu property represents a major shift from his earlier preference for renting. Thakkar had previously said he rented homes until around the age of 38-40 because he preferred directing capital towards his business rather than real estate.

A Private Family Residence

The new Juhu property, reportedly named “Angelus”, is intended to offer privacy, expansive living spaces and sea views. The residence will include multiple lifestyle facilities and is designed as a long-term family home.

Thakkar is also known for his interest in fitness and automobiles, having previously spoken about structured weight training and a collection of performance-oriented cars.

The latest acquisition comes amid continued demand for ultra-luxury homes in Mumbai’s premium neighbourhoods, where large residences with privacy, space and distinctive views remain limited.

For Thakkar, the Rs 711-crore Juhu purchase adds a striking real-estate milestone to a career spanning nearly three decades in India’s financial-services industry.
