Gautam Adani: Dharavi aims to restore the dignity of more than a million people

On September 5, Gautam Adani, the chairman of the Adani Group, stated that the Dharavi Redevelopment Project, which his business is carrying out, is about more than just urban redevelopment; it’s also about giving over a million citizens their dignity back and demonstrating the possibility of bold, deliberate action.

“Dharavi is more than just urban regeneration in my opinion. It is about giving more than a million citizens of our nation their dignity back. It’s about what may happen when you dare to have great dreams and take deliberate action,” Adani stated.

Construction work on Dharavi redevelopment project (DRP) may start in the next six to eight months, SVR Srinivas, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP), had said last week on the sidelines of The Real Estate Forum 2024 organised by the National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO), an apex body of real estate developers.

For what is billed as “the largest urban rejuvenation projects in the world” and “the first step towards making Mumbai slum-free,” the Adani Group and the Maharashtra government jointly own Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRPPL), which started the survey in the area to gather information from lakhs of unofficial residents.
